Dr. Carpenter has over 25 years of experience in medicine, basic science and clinical research and pharmaceutical drug development including leading several research and development teams to submit successful INDs, NDAs and sNDAs. He has held a number of leadership positions in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries including President and Chief Executive Officer of Sention, Vice-President of Clinical Research & Development and Regulatory Affairs at Adolor Corporation, Director of Clinical Research at Astra USA and member of the Global Therapeutic Area Team at Astra Pain Control Sweden. Prior to joining industry, Dr. Carpenter held academic faculty appointments at the University of Washington and Wake Forest University. Dr. Carpenter has co-authored 65 journal articles, holds several patents and has served as editor-in-chief or on the editorial boards of four medical journals. He has frequently been an invited speaker at national and international meetings and symposia and has been an invited visiting professor to numerous domestic and international universities and medical schools. Dr. Carpenter completed a fellowship in pharmacokinetics at the University of California San Francisco and a sabbatical in molecular biology at the University of Washington and is Board Certified in anesthesiology and pain management. Dr. Carpenter earned his MD at The University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency at the Virginia Mason Medical Center.

In April 2000, Mr. Beer became the founding CEO of Viacell (VIAC), a biotechnology company specializing in the collection and preservation of umbilical cord blood stem cells, and over a period of 7 years led the company from its inception to a rapidly growing and robust commercial organization. Under Mr. Beer’s leadership, the company grew to more than 300 employees, went public in 2005 and was ultimately acquired in 2007 by PerkinElmer (PKI). Prior to founding Viacell, Marc held various positions within Genzyme (GENZ), most recently as Vice President of Global Marketing where he was responsible for the commercial launch of several products addressing orphan disease populations on a global scale. Prior to Genzyme, he held a variety of sales and marketing roles in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic divisions of Abbott Laboratories (ABT). He was also a former member of the Mass Life Science Board of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Beer serves on the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) Emerging Companies Section Governing Board as well as on the board of directors of Good Start Genetics, Inc., where he is Chairman, Seaside Therapeutics, Inc. and ERYtech Pharma. Marc holds a BS from Miami University (Ohio).

Previously, she served as Senior Vice President and U.S. Business Group Head for Bayer Corporation's U.S. Pharmaceuticals Group. Prior to joining Bayer, Ms. Dawes was Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing at Wyeth Pharmaceutics and previously held senior level marketing and operations positions at Genetics Institute, Inc. and Pfizer, Inc. In these roles, Ms. Dawes led the successful commercial launches of numerous blockbuster products. She received a combined BA and MA from Simmons College and a MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dr. Paul received both a MS in anatomy and neuroanatomy and a MD from Tulane University.
